Aaron Senne

From the spring of 2003 until the summer of 2006, I was given the opportunity to coach Aaron Senne, one of the best hitters Minnesota has ever produced. Aaron was a four year varsity player on the team I was assistant coach for. I was lucky enough to work with Aaron and watch him accumulate numerous awards in high school and watched him receive even more awards in college at the University of Missouri, where he was also a four year starter.

Aaron was either the best, or one of the best, players on every baseball field he played at from his youth baseball days until today. Aaron's dad, Jim Senne, was the coach of Aaron's first traveling baseball team. Aaron was only 8 years old playing on an 11 year old team. Mr. Senne told me that was the year he figured out Aaron had a special talent in baseball. Jim said that Aaron was the best hitter on that team and he was only eight years old!

In high school, Aaron's list of accomplishments are long. Below is a list of his baseball accomplishments at Rochester Mayo High School.

Aaron Senne's High School Baseball Accomplishments

  • Career batting average of .505
  • 28 career home runs
  • Hit .552 with nine homers and 11 doubles as a senior
  • Compiled a 25-7 career record on the mound, including a 6-2 record as a senior
  • Struck out 214 over his four-year career and finished with a 1.62 ERA
  • Three-time all-conference, all-region and all-state selection
  • Named to the Street & Smith's Top 50 Junior Prospects in the Nation
  • Gatorade State Player of the Year in Minnesota during his senior season
  • Selected to play in the Minnesota State All-Star Game
  • Drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 13th round of the 2006 Major League Baseball Draft

Aaron turned down the Minnesota Twins in 2006 and decided to attend the University of Missouri and play baseball. After his junior season at Mizzou, he had to make another tough decision... Should he sign with the Minnesota Twins after they drafted him again or play out his senior season at Mizzou. He chose to finish his education and play one more year for the Tigers. After four years of playing baseball in the Big 12, I am pretty certain Aaron knows he made the correct decision. He was named the Big 12 Player of the Year his senior season, in 2010! Below is a list of his baseball accomplishments at at the University of Missouri.

Aaron Senne's Collegiate Baseball Accomplishments

  • Drafted By The Florida Marlins In The 10th Round Of The 2010 Major League Baseball Draft
  • 2010 Big 12 Conference Player of the Year
  • 2010 Louisville Slugger All-American Third Team
  • 2010 Academic All-Big 12 Conference
  • 2009 All-NCAA Regional Team
  • 2009 All-Big 12 Honorable Mention
  • 2009 Academic All-Big 12 Conference
  • 2008 All-Big 12 Conference First Team
  • 2008 All-Midwest Region Second Team
  • 2008 Academic All-Big 12 Conference
  • 2007 All-NCAA Regional Team

Aaron concluded his career at Missouri as the school's all-time leader in career hits and doubles. He also ranks in the top five in home runs and RBI in the MU career record books.
