Baseball Lineup Rotation Template. Allowing Your Youth Baseball Players to Play ALL Positions!
Depending on what age group you are coaching, you may want to follow a baseball lineup rotation so all your players can play ALL the positions. In my opinion, a youth baseball coach would CERTAINLY want to do this from T-Ball through 3rd grade levels. After 3rd grade, I would still consider rotating your ballplayers through all the positions, depending on the level of competition. I have created a great tool to assist you in creating baseball lineups that give each player equal playing time at each position. The Baseball Lineup Template is super simple and your lineup rotations can be easily done for the entire season. Your players will have equal time at each position. In House Baseball "In house" baseball leagues typically are not as competitive as "Traveling" teams. If you coach an "in house" team, you may still want to allow your players a chance to play all the positions during a game. I would check with your league organization to see if they have any rules regarding this. Traveling Baseball At the traveling level, I don't think you HAVE to let all players play all positions. I do, however, believe that players should NOT "specialize" at any one position. Even traveling baseball players should be allowed to explore different types of positions if they choose. As the traveling youth baseball coach, you should find some time for a youth baseball player to play a position he wants to play. It just might not be in a championship game! Summary To summarize, taking the time to set up a lineup rotation is a great thing to do for a youth baseball team. This allows players to gain valuable experience all over the diamond.
