Baseball Tools - What Every Good Coach Should Have In His Locker
Over the course of my career coaching youth baseball, I have seen numerous baseball tools that were made to develop the skills of youth baseball players. I would consider many of these training tools contraptions that may or may not work, depending on the player and the coach involved. On the other hand, I have seen and used many baseball tools that are extremely helpful baseball training tools. From a baseball hitting trainer (or baseball swing trainer) to baseball trainer shoes, you will see it all if you coach youth baseball long enough.
With all of this said, I am lucky and have been given permission to sell some baseball training tools on my site. I ONLY sell tools that I recommend. I refuse to sell baseball tools that I feel are gimmicks. Below you will find the baseball tools that I have been given permission to sell AND I recommend.
Baseball Swing Trainers
Swing Away
This Is A Top 5 Tool Of Mine!
The Swing Away is the most efficient hitting training aid for the batter to get the maximum quality swings in a shortest amount of time. The Swing Away provides the “Feel of Hitting Live Pitching” plus it allows the batter to position the ball anywhere in the strike zone. The batted ball will never be out of control and will strike the net in a way so the batter can see the trajectory of each ball hit. The ball is safely but quickly returned to its pre-set position within 3 seconds providing instant feedback to the hitter and/or coach. The hitter will be trained through repetition and muscle memory to develop the perfect fundamental swing while learning to hit any pitch location to the appropriate field with increased power and confidence.

The Insider Bat™is a revolutionary baseball/softball muscle memory training tool that promotes proper grip, hand placement and proper swing path before, during and after contact is made. The unique design allows for only one way to make contact with the ball……the CORRECT way!

The Hands Inside Trainer (H.I.T)is a batting tee attachment that promotes the proper hand path during the swing. This simple and effective training tool turns virtually any batting tee into a swing trainer that teaches hitters to stay inside the ball.

As a baseball fanatic, I wish I had one of these when I was younger! If you have a kid that loves baseball, but you cannot always be there to pitch to him or feed him soft toss, you need this product!
This soft toss machine is a spring loaded, piston driven batting tee or soft toss machine. It doesn’t use electricity or batteries and is completely self contained. There are four different models to choose from (tee-ball/inside use, baseball, fast-pitch softball, or slow-pitch softball).

Mental Side of Hitting
This Is A GREAT Video Tool Of Mine!
Most coaches would say the mental side of hitting is the most important aspect to learn about the game of baseball. However, most coaches spend less than 10% of their time working on the mental side when teaching players how to hit a baseball... That really doesn't add up!
MYB absolutely recommends all baseball players and coaches have this cd/dvd combo. A ton of information given in a short video and audio cd!

Youth Coaching Books - MUST Read!
A Perfect Season: A Coach’s Journey to Learning, Competing, and Having Fun
Do you play to win or do you play to have fun?
How you answer, often, depends on your age. According to a growing body of evidence, there’s a huge rift between kids who play their sport to have fun, learn, and be with friends, and the priorities of coaches and parents bent on winning.
“This discord means kids, parents, and coaches are often trying to achieve different things and speaking different languages,” says Dan Clemens, author of a new book for coaches and parents titled, A Perfect Season: A Coach’s Journey to Learning, Competing, and Having Fun.
Over my years of coaching, I have compiled many different drills, coaching tips and other things to share. On my web site, I have created pages and offered many free baseball drills for coaches to use. I have now put together, in one downloadable document, many of these youth baseball practice drills for you to print out and use.
I feel these baseball drills and coaching tips will help any youth baseball coach. Download them today!
Most coaches have, at least, some basic baseball tools at their disposal. From hitting tees to batting nets to the Insider Bat...
So... In my opinion, most youth baseball coaches should use baseball training tools at their practices. They may even send some of these baseball tools home with their players if they have demonstrated how they are to be used. I would recommend training the parent of the player also so they can work on it together.
Baseball Tools Used As Coaches? - Be Careful...
One caution... The use of baseball training tools usually requires the presence of a qualified coach to introduce the tool and/or oversee it's use. Many baseball tools will help with one aspect of the baseball swing, for example, but it may detract from another important aspect of a good swing. A qualified youth baseball coach should be there to watch and ensure all aspects of a good baseball swing are still there.
Have FUN and Keep It SIMPLE!
Lastly, make sure to always remember your priorities when coaching youth baseball whether you are a coach, player or parent. The game of baseball should be fun and made simple for the youth player. Make that happen.
