On Base Percentage!
Do You Know How?

**(Hits+Walks+Hit-By-Pitches) divided by (At Bats+Walks+Hit-By-Pitches+Sac Flys)**

On base percentage is used to measure the percentage of time a player reaches base. It is a very important baseball statistic for managers and coaches because it is important to note which players reach base consistently. Those players will most likely be placed at the top of the batting order in front of the power hitters. That gives those power hitters more chances to drive in the runs.

Below is an example:

Nolan has 50 At Bats, 22 hits, 11 walks, 2 hit by pitches and 6 sac flys. His OBP is: .507

This means that Nolan reaches base 50.7% of the time.
