Plate Appearances! Do You Know How?

**At-Bats+Walks+Hit by Pitcher+Sac. Hits+Sac. Flies+Times Reached on Def. Interference**

Plate appearances sometimes get confused with At-Bats when calculating some baseball statistics. Be sure you know the difference!

What you need to remember is that "At Bats" do not include "Base on Balls" or "Hit By Pitches." At Bats = Total PA's minus Base on Balls and Hit By Pitches.

Below is an example of how to calculate PA's:

Nolan has 50 AB's, 12 BB's, 2 HP, 3 Sac Hits, and 2 Sac Flies. Nolan's number of PA's = 69
